In the midst of the bucolic countryside surrounding Todi sits the refined bed and breakfast of Poggio d'Asproli. Bruno Pagliari, a sculptor with a long family history in the hotel business, transferred his family from Naples to this 19th-century stone farmhouse several years ago and has succeeded in his aim of creating elegant but comfortable surroundings to make guest feel at home. Each of the six romantic guestrooms is unique in style and decor. Rich fabrics draped at bedheads give a canopy effect with matching bedspreads and nice big bathrooms have a travertine marble sinks. To the back is a large two-bedroom suite with a separate entrance. The home is filled to the brim with antiques and lovely artwork (some by Bruno's sister, Lilli) wich blend in well with the stone walls, worn brick floors, and beamed ceilings. Breakfast and candlelit dinners are served either on the outside terrace or in the elegant dining room. At one end is a cozy sitting area with white sofas around an enormous fireplace. A swimming pool among the trees is a cool spot for relaxing. Daughter, Claudia, is slowly taking over the general management of the bed and breakfast.
