The Petrified Forest of Dunarobba
An almost unique paleo-botanical site, laying beyond Todi and the Tiber Valley. A fossilised forest made up of huge sequoia tree trunks (over 3 ms diameter and 8 ms long) still standing upright in the late Pliocene (2 million years), hence covered by clay in their living position. This is an exception to the many findings of wood remains all over the world.
The area is also of greater interest thanks of being along the military stretch of the Old Roman Consular Road Flaminia (220 B.C.).
